Doris Bowen

Founder & Teacher

As a graduate of Bible Training for Christian Leaders, Doris has been ministering to women for over 20 years. Most commonly referred to as “Dot,” she lives in Roswell, Georgia with her husband, Howard. They have three grown children and eight grandchildren.

A few years ago a woman asked why she started Cup of Joy later in life instead of enjoying the life of an empty nester. Without thinking, she responded, “When I die, I don’t want to give God sea shells.”  Thus began the hard work of listening to God and following His heart for seeing women understand truth, live in freedom, and experience His love.

Dot is a contributing author for idisciple.org and blueprintforlife.com.

Her weakness? She loves Krispy Kreme doughnuts. She could eat them for every meal. Every time she sees the “hot” sign on, it’s as if autopilot takes over her car; she has to pull in.

Cheryl Bell

Project Manager

Cheryl holds a BA in Religion from Baylor University. Ministry and details management have gone hand in hand for her for a very long time. She served as Director of Events for Passion Conferences for many years and now currently works alongside her husband, David, at Orchestrate. She has been a part of the Cup of Joy leadership team since it began in 2004.

Cheryl & David have been married for 26 years. They live in Roswell, Georgia and are the proud parents of Austin, a current student at Auburn University, and their daughter, Lauren, a high school senior.

If she could, she would spend most of her time near mountains and horses. And there would be unlimited amounts of coffee with cream & honey.

Robin Pitts

Retreat Manager

Robin is one of the kindest, most servant-hearted people alive, so it’s no surprise that she handles all the details for the women who attend our retreats. Her role at Cup of Joy is primarily behind-the-scenes, editing and coordinating registration for the retreats and making sure every woman is taken care of on site.

She has faithfully been at Dot’s side since the birth of Cup of Joy in 2004. Robin and her husband, Chuck, have four amazing children.

Robin is a bit of an adrenaline junky. She has run 10 half marathons and applied to be on The Amazing Race four times!

Janice Passons

Care Ministry Director

After serving on the board for Cup of Joy for years, God led Janice to come on staff with the Cup of Joy Care Ministry.  She faithfully prays for each request that is submitted, often sending handwritten notes and birthday wishes to ladies who have joined the Cup of Joy family. She has been married for 45 years and has three sons, two daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren.

Janice loves meeting new people and making them laugh. Humor isn’t in short supply with her; she gets a kick out of pranking people and once sold a guinea pig as a rabbit. 🙂
